I am now down to my final pack of toilet paper which I purchased in early January 2020. It was customary for me to buy toilet paper when they are on special or with the use of coupons. The bottom line is that I never pay regular prices for toilet paper. With the arrival of Covid-19 in the US and around the world, toilet paper has become king of all grocery items or so it seems. I am yet to understand why during an epidemic people’s focus is not on food. Grocery store shelves have been emptied time and time again, I have now lost count. As a matter of principle, I have refused to add to my stock of TP as it is commonly called, but the time is almost here, and I must make a decision.

Do I continue along this path?
All this s…talk has led me to do some investigations. When you really think about it, toilet paper does not complete the job. It removes the big stuff while smudges remain. So, is there an alternative which gives a cleaner clean? The answer is yes there is. It is old technology, WATER. Toilet paper is a construct of western culture. In the east as well as in Islamic countries, water is used post number one and number two. Some use a jug in their bathroom while others use bidets.

With all this bidet talk I remember that my mother always spoke about wanting to include a bidet when her house was being built. At that time, I did not understand the functioning of this bathroom gadget. Now I do. A bidet is a bowl which is meant to be sat upon to wash the human genitalia, inner buttocks, and anus.

This concept blew my mind. For those who cannot afford a bidet, a variation in the form of an attachment exists. The attachment is what I would refer to as a shower head for the under parts, which can be plumbed unto an existing toilet with almost the same result as a bidet. Decision time is here, Toilet Paper or Bidet. I am leaning, sorry falling towards the clean side.
